“BOSTON — Conservative political commentator Robert Novak announced Monday he has been diagnosed with a brain tumor.
Mr. Novak, 77 years old, fell ill on Cape Cod this weekend while visiting his daughter and was rushed to Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where he said he was diagnosed Sunday with the tumor.
Mr. Novak has been a columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times for decades. His assistant, Kathleen Connolly, told the newspaper that doctors hadn’t yet done a biopsy to determine if the tumor was malignant.
She said Mr. Novak was alert and talking in the hospital’s intensive care unit. Mr. Novak’s office refused further comment to the Associated Press, other than to confirm the comments on the newspaper Web site.
Hospital spokesman Kevin Myron confirmed Mr. Novak was a patient, but said Mr. Novak requested that no further information be released.
Last week, Mr. Novak was given a $50 citation after he struck a homeless man with his black Corvette in downtown Washington. Mr. Novak kept going until he was stopped by a bicyclist, who said the man was splayed on Mr. Novak’s windshield.
Mr. Novak is best-known as the longtime co-host of CNN’s “Crossfire,” where he bumped heads with liberal co-hosts from 1980 to 2005, when he left to join Fox News as an occasional contributor.
Mr. Novak was criticized after he was the first to publicly reveal the name of CIA operative Valerie Plame in a 2003 column. His column came out eight days after Ms. Plame’s husband, Joseph Wilson, said the Bush administration had twisted prewar intelligence to exaggerate the Iraqi threat.
House Republican Whip Roy Blunt, of Missouri, said Novak’s record of reporting and commenting on American elections “has never failed to demonstrate keen insight and a peerless political acumen.”
“I want to join the many wishing Bob all the best as he confronts this challenge and a speedy recovery as he looks to resume his work,” Blunt said in a statement.”
I wonder how long it is before the DailyKos and Huffington Post blogs are filled with hate, talking about how much he deserves to die, just like they did with Nancy Reagan? WOW….didn’t take long at all! Notice the “ratings” given all that hate….
I’m so sick (5+ / 3-)
Of how people demonize and hate others until they get a brain tumor or something, and then all of a sudden we’re supposed to come together in the spirit of humanity and all that bullshit.
I, for one, stand by my many utterences that I hope this man gets cancer and dies. Why shouldn’t we? Just because he’s facing his own morality we’re supposed to have compassion for him?
Nuts to that, I hope he lingers and goes slow and hard.
I’m not going to get warm and fuzzy toward him (5+ / 0-)
But I would not wish that “he lingers and goes slow and hard.” Cheney will put my humanity to the test, but I don’t wish dreadful ends for my enemies. Going quietly is fine, as long as they go.
Now, go spread some peace, love and understanding. Use force if necessary. – Phil N DeBlanc
I’m with you. But be prepared for the beating (2+ / 2-)
that’s about to take place from all the “appeasers” in our progressive camp.
There’s people here who’d weep if Hitler were alive and got a brain tumor.
I declared “good riddance” to Tony Snow and got days and days of harrasement over it.
People die everyday, from every form of disease and mishappenings. Good people, bad people, every color, every polictical leaning, every moral type….
I for one am glad whenever another human who contributes negatively to our society bites the dust. It’s one less of that “negative” army we need to fight.
Bob Novak is a scurrilous shill, an agent for the far right-wing agenda. That sounds like some crazy rant, but it’s well sourced and documented– mainly from the man’s mouth himself.
I don’t wish for anyone’s suffering in life, but if you are here contributing to other’s suffering and undermine fairness and democracy, then i would bid you good riddance when you take your dirt nap.

Now the following just takes the cake, as one of the Kos haters declares that the thread in question, including the posts above, are not hate at all!!
There is no hate here…. (5+ / 0-)
Please read posts with an objective mind. You are interpreting hate where there is none.
To feel apathetic or indifferent about your enemy’s demise is not hate. It’s normal…
Contrived compassion when none existed previously is disengenuous and dishonest.
And to those who keep citing “Karma”– if you do some research on the true meaning of Karma, it is not some simple law that says something “bad” will happen to you if you do something “bad”. It’s quite a bit deeper and more meaningful than that.
And in this case, i have no worries about the karmic consequences.
Puhleez…Isn’t this a little convenient? (1+ / 0-)

Novak is about to do some jail time for a hit and run and suddenly has a brain tumor. It smacks of Junior Soprano.
He needs to live by his rules. (0+ / 0-)
No physicians to helped who were trained by tax dollars, who are not white males.
No hospitals built with public funds.
No drugs that were developed by NIH or by Public Universities.
He’s a typical narcisisstic right winger.

small area of your body, shit happens. Fortunately for Novak, he doesn’t have as much EVIL as some…
That man is a walking tumor.
Wherefore do ye toil; is it not that ye may live and be happy? And if ye toil only that ye may toil more, when shall happiness find you?
And the hate just continues at the Kos…
It’s tragic… (0+ / 0-)
… when anyone is hit with a cancer diagnosis. That being said, if SOMEBODY has to have a brain tumor, I’m glad it’s Robert Novak.
